Isosorbide Dinitrate

 

Uses

  • Angina pectoris

This medicine is used for the prevention of angina (chest pain) caused due to reduced flow of blood and oxygen to the heart. It is not effective in treating an acute episode of chest pain that has already set in.

  • Heart Failure

This medicine is also used for the treatment of heart failure caused due to failure of bottom left compartment of the heart.

 

Side effects

Major & minor side effects for Isosorbide Dinitrate

  • Bluish discoloration of lips, fingernails, palm, or hands
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Low blood pressure
  • Dizziness and fainting
  • Headache
  • Nausea or Vomiting
  • Chest pain and discomfort
  • Difficulty in swallowing
  • Hives and redness of skin
  • Burning or tingling sensation of hands and feet
  • Agitation and anxiety
  • Sleeplessness
