What is it prescribed for?
- Pneumocystis Jiroveci Pneumonia
Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) is a serious lung infection caused by the fungus Pneumocystis jirovecii. It mainly occurs if your child has medical conditions that weaken their immune system and lower the body's ability to fight germs and sickness. Septran Paediatric Suspension is used for the prevention and treatment of this condition.
- Toxoplasmosis
Toxoplasmosis is a condition that results from infection with the Toxoplasma gondii parasite. The symptoms include muscle pain, fever, tiredness, headache, etc. Septran Paediatric Suspension is used in the treatment and prevention of toxoplasmosis.
- Nocardiosis
Nocardiosis refers to the infection caused by bacteria found in soil and water. It can affect the lungs, brain, and skin. It is most common in people with a weak immune system who have difficulty fighting off infections. Septran Paediatric Suspension is used to treat this condition.
- Acute uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI)
An acute uncomplicated UTI is a sudden (swelling) of the urinary bladder, an organ that stores urine. It can be caused due to viral or bacterial infection. Septran Paediatric Suspension is used to treat acute uncomplicated urinary tract infections caused by bacteria.
- Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
Septran Paediatric Suspension is used for the treatment of acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, a condition characterised by sudden worsening of symptoms such as a cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, etc., associated with chronic bronchitis (long term swelling of the windpipe).
- Acute otitis media
Acute otitis media is an infection of the middle ear, the air-filled space behind the eardrum that contains the tiny vibrating bones of the ear. It can be accompanied by ear pain and fever. Septran Paediatric Suspension is used in the treatment of acute otitis media caused by bacteria.
